Strength Through Humility

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”  Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matt 22:36-39

Jesus said many times, “the words I speak to you I do not speak on my own authority. Rather, it is my Father, living in me, who is doing this work.” Jesus also said, “the world must know that I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded.”

If we can learn to depend upon God every moment of the day, everything will come right because we are His Will.  We will get the higher life if we humble ourselves by depending absolutely upon God.

Andrew Murray, Mother Teresa, Oswald Chambers, and John Piper all define “humility” from God’s perspective as absolute dependence upon Him.  This level of dependency upon God is one of our most solemn and precious actions we can take in our lives.

We can learn this and apply it in our lives if we surrender all of who we are to God and His Will, so Jesus can be all He wants to be in us and through us!

Heavenly Father, being dependent upon You is something we desire, we can’t do this on our own strength, but we need your help from the Holy Spirit to guide us down the path of righteousness and follow Your lead throughout our life.

In Christ,

Bill
