Kenosis is the ‘self-emptying’ of our will and surrendering entirely to God’s will and to His plan for us, each day of our life. What does it mean to “surrender” our will?
God’s desire is for all men to have our attitude the same as that of Jesus, “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made Himself nothing (He emptied Himself of his own will), taking the very nature of a bond servant (slave) to God, being made in human likeness, and being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself (became totally obedient to God’s will for His life) and became obedient to death, even death on a cross.” Phil 2:5-8
Let’s not forget that “God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of His Son”. John 3:16-18
The word “believe” in Christian theology means “to trust, has faith in, entrusts to, commit to rely upon.” We know God is seeking to mold us into the likeness of Jesus Christ. This requires a “going out” of self and building confidence in God and total dependency upon Him until there is nothing between you and God.
Are you willing to empty yourself to God so Jesus can be all He wants to be in us and through us?
Please join me in 2020 by emptying ourselves and being fully dependent upon God, relying upon Him fully with every thought we think, step we take, word we speak and every plan we make.
Dear Heavenly Father, we seek to entrust our lives to your Son Jesus Christ to guide us down the pathway of righteousness all the way into heaven. For your Son died on the Cross so we can be brought into an intimate relationship with You Father and the One you sent, Jesus! Father have your way in us and help us to fully surrender to You and Your will for each one of us.
In Christ,
Bill
