Why is Prayer Important?

It means that just at literally as Christ was given to Father, I am given up to Christ. Is this too strong?

Some think so, while others think that can never be! Where are you?

Are you believing this is true? that just as entirely and absolutely as Christ gave up His life to do nothing but seek the Father’s pleasure, and depend on the Father absolutely and entirely, I am to do nothing but seek the pleasure of Christ. THIS IS ENTIRELY TRUE!

Christ Jesus came to breathe His own Spirit into us, to make us find our very highest happiness in living entirely for God, just as Jesus did.

Portions of the above are from Andrew Murray.

If this is the case, then we ought to say to Jesus that I would live day by day that Christ may be able to do with me as He will. This is one of the toughest points to get across to guys as we are good at doing things in our own strength, instead of placing our total dependence upon Jesus. Remember that “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13

The Great Commandment states that we are commanded to, “Love the Lord your God with ALL your heart, ALL your soul, and ALL your mind.”…”This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:37-40 and Mark 12:29-31 (is similar, and includes, “…and with ALL your strength.”)

If you have any doubts about the above, please take time to study the Great Commandment, and Jesus, especially the meaning of “love” in John 14:21, especially what Jesus says at the end of this passage, when He says “I will reveal myself to you.”

To love (obey Him) means we need to deny self by setting aside our agenda, our desires, our thoughts, our decisions, our words we speak and steps we take each day for the remainder of our life on this planet. Jesus says, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but you ever loses his life for me will save it.” Luke 9:23-24

Let’s beg Jesus to move us to full and complete dependency upon Him through our irrevocable and complete surrender of all to Him!

Lord, please bring us to our knees and help us seek to surrender all we are to You completely, and irrevocably, so we may love You with ALL our heart, ALL our soul, ALL our mind and with ALL our strength—and be transformed into Your likeness. LORD, we know we can’t do life on our own and go to heaven when we die. We need YOU and Your Holy Spirit to guide us, to correct us, to transform us, and to keep on the pathway of righteousness all the way into heaven. In Jesus name, Amen.

With Gratitude,

Bill
